Always guided by the philosophy of conservation, study, and enhancement of the ancient traditions of our mountain village and its culture, the Association has acquired through donation and has restored, completing it with the missing parts, an ancient watermill used for grinding grains, along with a loading tank for periods of drought. The mill is a key testament to the life of the community, fundamental for the sustenance of the entire population.
A volume written on the occasion of the restoration of the mill (1999) describes and illustrates the workings of the mill, the history of mills and grain grinding in Europe, the events surrounding the mills of Quarna, and highlights the curious and proverbial figure of the miller and his tireless work, which has inspired a vast literature.
It is located on the outskirts of Quarna Sotto, not far from the museum. It is normally operational, although only for demonstration and educational purposes, and can be visited both externally and internally.
