The activities
Premio Carlo Virgilio e Giovanna Brusoni
Giovanna Mella Brusoni, a vibrant lady from Milan with a determined demeanor, never failed to return to Quarna each year; in love with the town and its rich musical tradition, she aimed to promote musical culture among the youth of the area. Every year, Mrs. Giovanna provided the means to recognize their commitment and encourage the study of music. Enthusiastic about the idea of the Museum, she wanted to contribute with a significant donation for the construction of the Auditorium. Mrs. Brusoni (1901-1991) wished to continue her work after her death by establishing a permanent endowment, the Brusoni Fund for Music, in memory of herself and her husband, Carlo Virgilio (1895-1962), a great music enthusiast and also a musician and composer for pleasure. The “Brusoni Fund” is still used today for initiatives promoting music and for awarding the Brusoni Prize (in its 37th edition in 2018) to young musicians and international personalities in the music world with a particular connection to our territory. In 2009, the Museum established the “Virgilio and Giovanna Mella Brusoni Fund for Music” at the Community Foundation of VCO to ensure its continuity, efficient management, and strengthening of the assets and grants. Through contributions collected from individuals, companies, and institutions, and donated by the Quarna community to the Community Foundation in the “Brusoni Fund,” the Fund’s assets have grown by nearly 10% in five years.
Everyone who wishes to contribute to the promotion of the culture and musical tradition of the area can make a donation directly to the bank accounts held by the Community Foundation of VCO: Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking: IBAN IT09 X032 3901 6001 0000 0005 735 Postal account: nr 1007819913
